My Manuscript Wishlist
Every editor has a genre that they work with or genre that they would consider their expertise. I find that it is best to be upfront with my clients so that their is no confusion or discontent. Below you'll find some of my favorite genres (although I work in genres outside of these) as well as my manuscript no-nos. If you were recommended to me but write one of the no-no list, I can still happily give a consultation or recommend you to another editor more experienced in these genres.
My Fave Genres
Speculative Fiction
Any reader knows that's a big umbrella, but hey, what can I say? I love fantasy and science fiction from steampunk to adventure to space opera.
Memoir & Self-Help
Your story matters.
(That's why it is part of my tagline, haha.) I work in memoir whether it be through essay or shorter forms.
I also read self-help books, guides, and books offering encouragement.
Mystery & Suspense
This includes cozy mystery, suspense, thrillers, and even horror. If it will get me on the edge of my seat, I am all for it.
Contemporary
I love working with authors who focus on contemporary and literary fiction. I am a sucker for provocative prose and seeing how fiction can reflect life or vice versa.
Drama
I read plays! I also happily read web novels or text for graphic novels and zines.
Christian Nonfiction
I read Bible studies, testimonies, prayer journals, the works!
